How is Consensus changing the landscape in metro Kansas City?

Creating Community Solutions – KC

Creating Community Solutions – KC is part of the national, White House effort to bing mental illness out of the shadows and develop innovative, community-based solutions. KC is one of six lead cities and Consensus serves as project director. CCS was named the 2014 project of the year by the International Association of PublicParticipation and is a finalist for an Ash Award from Harvard’s Kennedy School. Learn more about it.

The Local Issues Project

The Local Issues Project is an effort of the award-winning Mid-Continent Public Library. Consensus is working with the library to choose three issues for deliberative forums and three for panel discussions. We are also training library staff to moderate discussions and write discussion guides. The first deliberative issues: the living wage, trash/littering/illegal dumping, and bullying. Volunteer Projects (because you gotta give back)

We are helping Mayor Mark Holland with his 2015 listening tour. The goal: find out how KCK residents would spend a $12 million windfall. We provided the meeting design and facilitator training.

We are working with a law firm to help an urban neighborhood cope with rapid change We expect to facilitate discussions around the values they want to guide development and agreements they want with developers.
