Consensus seeks leader with strong public engagement skills

Consensus gives the public a voice in public policy decisions. This entrepreneurial nonprofit works on pro bono and philanthropically funded projects in metro Kansas City, and for clients here and around the U.S. The Consensus business model has given us access to an array of national and local projects, working with an exciting mix of clients, and it has allowed us to be a thought leader in encouraging great public engagement.

For a skilled public engagement practitioner, Consensus is an excellent platform from which to build a practice. The Consensus board seeks such a practitioner to serve as its new director.

  • The director spends an average of 40 hours a month working with the board, assisting with an annual breakfast, conducting public events, and marketing through an e-newsletter and social media. Consensus offers $12,000 a year for that work.
  • The director draws most of their income from consulting projects, both client-funded and philanthropically funded. Like any consultant, the director would respond to RFPs, and develop project ideas and seek funding. Board members will help the director make contacts and sometimes serve as project partners.

If you are entrepreneurial, skilled at process, and if you are driven to give people a voice, please send your resume and a cover letter to Kim Gile, board president, at KimGile@kclibrary.org. If you have questions, contact Kim or Jennifer Wilding, former director, at jenwilding@consensuskc.org.

The Consensus board guides policy and advocates for meaningful public engagement.
